Fund raiser with a splash of fun at Alston Lodge!

On 26th September Alston Lodge is holding a tea and cake fund raising event with a difference with all proceeds going to Macmillan Cancer Support.

The Alston lodge team will spend the next week hard at work in their kitchens baking to raise money for this very worthy cause.

But not only that, they will be preparing themselves for the splash of fun; a team ice bucket challenge which will take place once the tea has been sipped and all the cakes sold off!

For a £5 donation to the charity the team can nominate one of their colleagues, anonymously, to face the ice bucket challenge, with all the residents on hand with their own bucket to help with the icy cold dousing.

The fun starts at 2pm when tea and cakes go on sale, with team members facing the ice bucket challenge from 3pm onwards.

The residents are really looking forward to the event and the chance to get involved with the splash! Even some of the clients who are looked after by Alston Lodge in the community are coming to join in with the event and get the chance to throw icy water over their carer.

Sarah Burns, Director at Alston Lodge comments:

“It will be a fun afternoon with real community spirit. We are looking forward to welcoming many of the client’s relatives and clients from the community to help raise money for a most deserving cause.

Sarah adds “I have already started to practice my baking techniques in preparation and while to date I have managed to avoid the Ice Bucket challenge I somehow feel my days are now numbered.”
